PC Project: Wonder Woman (5-videos)
Plan: Wall-mounted Gaming PC with Silence in mind. Trying to make a floating effect, components and cables behind won’t be visible and everything is nicely routed on the front side. Base of this PC is 60x40x(cm) acrylic piece.
Specs:
- CPU: 8600k delidded
- MOBO: ROG STRIX Z370-I
- GPU: EVGA FTW GTX 1080
- PSU: EVGA R3 1000W
- SSD: Samsung 960 EVO 500GB m.2
- Water, blocks, fittings
After quick planning I was ready to tackle the first step, to make cutouts for all the cables and water-cooling. For 24-pin cable that would be 24 holes, 3.5mm each inside of a 52mm X 12mm rectangle). I 3D printed guides for drill and that worked quite nicely!
I also chose to delid the CPU and add liquid metal inside for better temperatures.
Next up was to figure out how to make fans a little more flush with the build. Started by tearing Corsair SP120 for research purposes. Designed and printed a prototype frame for the fan that would embed the fan into the acrylic piece. Making holes for fans was a little more difficult as those require roughly 114mm holes, managed to do those without breaking too much!
Making all the pass-throughs for tubes was also very precise, but doable!
PSU is mounted by making precise cutout and just putting PSU through it. Simple and works.
I had to add one inlet to the top of the reservoir, which worked nicely with an 11.8mm drill bit and G1/4“ thread tap.
After everything was on the wall I quite quickly chose to paint acrylic with mat black.
Update 2023: EVGA FTW GTX1080 has given up with flame ‘n smoke. Hopefully Ill find replacement or maybe upgrade. For now, GTX750 is hanging mid-air doing GPUs duty on the wall.
