PC Project: Next Gen PS2 (6-Videos)

Plan: A fully functional computer inside of a PS2 case.

  • Specs I chose for this/upgraded to
  • Intel i5 4690k
  • Gigabyte GTX 750ti Zotac GTX 1050ti
  • MSI H97i AC ITX
  • Low profile RAM
  • M4-ATX mini PSU
  • SSD 2.5’’

First I detached the old internals of the PS2 and started fitting components in.

I attached a USB3 extension to the front of the PS2 housing where the original USBs were located. After that, it was time to wire the original PS2 buttons to the PC including LEDs!

LEDS:

  • Red = StandBy
  • Blue = HDD-Activity
  • Green = PowerOn
  • Button1 = On/Off
  • Button2 = Reset (Useless but button was there so why not!)

Adding better-looking fans to this project was fun, grinding angles for those fans and the results were nice!

A Little bit of benchmarking has been done at this point:

  • AMBIENT : 24’C
  • IDLE (992-995RPM) :.CPU: MAX 30’c, GPU:31’c, SSD33’c
  • Valley Benchmark :….CPU: MAX 48’c, GPU:80’c, SSD:39’c
  • Prime95 :………………CPU: MAX 89’c, GPU:38’c, SSD:35’c

I ended up upgrading the GPU to GTX 1050ti and made nice cables for this.
